How are we going to get through this? Have you ever felt at a loss for words and wisdom to get through something difficult? With frustration and confusion, we might try to handle things in our own power, with our own mindset. Sad fact, our mindset isn’t always aligned with God’s. Human wisdom is not holy wisdom. Even though we know we need God’s wisdom to navigate life, seeking Him isn’t always our first thought. Why do you think that is? Whatever our reason, God’s got the perspective and wisdom we need. James, Chapter 3, shares a lovely and loving picture of that holy wisdom. “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.”  Â
Our three-year-old grandson hugged me yesterday and said, “You are a good friend, Nana.” That’s probably the sweetest compliment I’ve ever received. Sometimes our hearts know wisdom sooner than our brains, and that’s a gift of wisdom from above. Many young children have an uncorrupted mindset and align with God’s loving perspective without even knowing it. Can seeking wisdom from above be more natural for us adults? Yes! We can make seeking Him a habit, our first thought, our default mindset, with the help of the Holy Spirit and perseverance. Our grandson is a happy little guy snuggling up to his loving Nana. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more humans were happy little guys snuggling up to their loving Lord? Gentle and peace loving people seeking Holy wisdom would yield to others. They’d serve with a mindset of mercy. God, grant us wisdom as we snuggle up to You! ~Tracy
