Joni Eareckson Tada said, “We enter Christ’s kingdom through points of grace, and grace is like water – it always seeks the lowest level. The more we see ourselves as needy in God’s eyes, the roomier our soul is to receive his grace.” Paul also highlighted points of grace to the Galatians, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.” First, ouch, I thought I was kind of important. To Joni and Paul’s point, when we are humble, when we rely on God, our soul is ready to receive, then give, more grace. So, it’s important that I’m not so important to myself that I neglect others. The Lord wants us to be humble and helpful and grace-filled.
Second, last week I wrote about being yoked to Jesus and learning from Him. Jesus said He shares our burdens, so we can, in turn, share other people’s burdens. Life can be so sweet when we learn from Jesus how to share points of grace, kindness and love. Burden-sharing and grace-giving are parts of the law of Christ we are called to obey, friends. Last week we looked at rest, and a bonus to sharing each other’s burdens is that we can both rest more easily and more quickly when a heavy burden is shared. May our points of grace be many and our burdens few. But as burdens come to us, so will Christian friends. What a joy to be in the family of faith. Blessed by this Shepherd community of friends, Tracy
