Do you remember what important things happened to you in 1984? If you weren’t born yet, think about 2020, five short years ago. I graduated from college in 1984. (Don’t do the math or you will figure out how old I am!) That year, 1984, Amy Grant came out with a song titled, “Thy Word.” It’s based on Psalm 119. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Her song resonated with me as I began a new job, settled into our second year of marriage, navigated new paths in life. Nothing will I fear as long as You are near. Thank you, song writers and Psalmists, who add music to the Lord’s eternal Word, encouraging all generations. As Psalm 119 promised, the Lord surely directed my timid steps by lighting my path that year.

Maybe you remember “Way Maker,” popular in 2020. Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, Light in the darkness, my God That is who You are. That song resonated with many people who longed for God to be a way maker through uncharted territory, miracle worker, promise keeper and true light in the dark days of early Covid. Ever since our Creator said, “Let there be light” in Genesis 1:3, His Word has never stopped producing light. This week, let’s notice His comforting light: Sunsets, twinkling stars, sunlight filtering through leaves, nightlights in cozy bedrooms. More intensely we can focus on Jesus, the Word, the Light, as Bible verses jump out at us, sermons hit our hearts, prayers are answered. 2 Corinthians 4:6 assures: For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts… He lights our paths and hearts! Amen! ~Tracy
