Reformation and Confirmation!

“The whole being of any Christian is faith and love. Faith brings the person to God, love brings the person to people.” Martin Luther was brilliant and brave, wasn’t he? He gave so much of his life to sharing the truth of God’s Word with people who were kept in the darkness by their own church. The good life begins with faith and love. John 8:31 tells us, “Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, ‘You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” Martin wanted people to know that freedom, equipped through worship and Bibles in their own language. If they didn’t know God’s Word, how could they be faithful to Him? Everyone needed to know the truth - they were saved by grace through faith in Jesus and God’s Word.

Grace upon grace is ours! Like Martin said, faith and love are the foundation for a Christian life. John 8:31 from above is the verse my pastor chose for my confirmation. The Spirit led him to that verse, though I would not have chosen it for myself when I was 18 and learning to be Lutheran. Jesus knew I would become His faithful follower, and He needed me to remember over and over again that His truth would set me free. He was going to help me build a life of faith with Him and love for others. You might have a similar story with your confirmation verse. Thank God for Martin Luther, who blazed a path of freedom and grace for generations of Jesus followers, like us. Blessed with faith and love, like you, Tracy
