Stepping Up

Last week I wrote about a hiking adventure. It turned out to be much steeper than we expected. I was grateful for the well-placed benches so I could sit and catch my breath. We had a nice chat with a young couple who joined us on a bench. The woman had never been hiking before and the steep ascent was a lot for her, too. Sometimes, something that appears easy turns out to be a challenge, no matter your age. It’s not bad, it’s just harder or more complicated than expected. In Shea worship we will sing, “Go, My children, with My blessing, never alone.” Step by step, steep or gentle path, we venture on, rest, keep going with His blessing. Then, we can encourage someone beside us on the bench. 2 Corinthians 1:4 reminds us, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” Amen!
