Camping

Our daughter and her family are going camping for the first time since they had children. I’m excited for them! We camped when our girls were growing up and made wonderful family memories. We share classic tales to this day of marauding  javalenas, gila monsters, marshmallow torches, silly campfire stories and shooting stars. Spending that focused time together is priceless. I think God cherishes that same focused time with us even more than we treasure it with our children. In Hosea 6:6 God says, “I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.”

Pastor Scott spoke in his sermon on Sunday about a proper balance of humility and knowing God through Christ. Incredibly, our triune Lord continually invites us into relationship. Though we can’t know God fully on this side of heaven, we can know Him more through focused time together. It can be like going camping with God. We will make wonderful memories. We can wonder at His creation, read His stories, tell Him ours, walk together in the light, and even look hopefully into the darkness for shooting stars. Happy camping! ~Tracy
