Crickets

I was listening to crickets the other night, many chirping similar patterns but still sounding chaotic, discordant. Then, within a few seconds, they chirped all together, in some sort of synchronized song. I wouldn’t have found the beauty in the harmony if I hadn’t listened to the chaos first. I find it interesting that one doesn’t start the song and the others mimic one by one. It seems they are all chirping their own song, then choose to sing together. I’ve heard crickets make the unity choice now. I’ve heard humans make the choice, too! We are all singing our own life songs, but we can and often do choose to sing together. Praise God!

Titus said, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.” All people. In chapter two, Titus recommends ways Christians can sing the same song by teaching the same truth, living the same way: “self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” Amid life’s chaos, we can find harmony as God’s witnesses to all people. We can teach the same message of grace and salvation that has endured for all time. Keep choosing to sing together, friends! Love the Lord your God and love your neighbors. Christians and crickets can chirp a beautiful song in the dark. Praying those that haven’t heard will listen and be drawn to sing His song with us.
