Upward Call

Our great band at the Shepherd Mountain View Campus sang “Forgiveness” by Matthew West on Sunday. Very appropriate for our sermon series with Pastor Zach Zehnder’s Forgiving Challenge. Near the end of the song is the line, “Show me how to see what Your mercy sees, Help me now to give what You gave to me. Forgiveness.” God’s mercy calls us to see ourselves and others through those same holy eyes of forgiveness. Pastor Scott said, “The upward call of God in Christ Jesus is that we would forgive as the Lord forgives each and every one of us.” Upward call is right! Forgiveness is a hard and holy endeavor. In Psalm 40 David said, “He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” So let’s hold Jesus’ hand as we walk along, steadied by His love and forgiveness, faithfully following our upward call. ~Tracy
