Shepherd Serves

Shepherd Serves our Valley First

Together, Shepherd is a connection point for nearby non-profit groups and a launchpad for local impact.

At Shepherd we value providing many opportunities to serve our congregation’s “Mission Window.” This window is bordered by Camelback Road to the south, Happy Valley Road to the north, US51 to the west, and AZ87 to the east. Partnering primarily with social service agencies and opportunities in this area is a focus for our Shepherd ministry program. We have a number of opportunities to “plug and play” in short-term service projects. As we work with these agencies, Shepherd members have the opportunity to befriend these organizations and partners and potentially become part of these agencies’ funding strategies.

Monthly Projects:

Support the annual Trunk or Treat event by donating wrapped candy.  Look for the donation boxes in the lobbies on both campuses.

Local Service Opportunities

Since 1983, Choices has been serving young women, men, and babies. A non-profit, privately funded community health center in compliance with federal and state laws, CHOICES serves the Greater Phoenix area and is staffed by client advocates and medical professionals who listen and provide the facts and information to help individuals make informed decisions about their body, sexuality, and future. The majority of services are free or at a very low cost.

FMSC is dedicated to providing nutritious meals to children worldwide. Let’s make a difference this spring by volunteering to pack meals together. Visit fmsc.org for more info.

Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona is a local charity that renovates and repairs homes for eligible families. With renting, buying, and repairing homes being expensive propositions, many Arizona families are struggling to make ends meet and often forced to choose between essentials such as groceries, rent, healthcare, and transportation.  Register for a Shepherd-specific event HERE.

Childhelp exists to meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children. They focus their efforts on advocacy, intervention, treatment, prevention, family resilience and community outreach. Please join Childhelp as we partner to help families heal and have a safe place to live.
