Here I Come

Do you know how Jesus chose His twelve apostles? Luke 6:12-13 sheds some light, “One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles.” Jesus prayed to God all night. Martin Luther was mindful of God’s command to pray, and His promise to listen. He wrote, “You can hold such promises up to him and say, “Here I come, dear Father, and pray not of my own accord nor because of my own worthiness, but at your commandment and promise, which cannot fail or deceive me.” Whether we pray all night long or squeak out one agonizing thought, God hears. Unsure how to start today? We can use Martin’s suggestion, “Here I come, dear Father…”
