Stars

Have you ever dreamed of being a star? Philippians 2 shows us how to shine like a star in the sky for God. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. That sounds beautifully impossible. Notice one key to that beautiful life - do everything without grumbling or arguing. Everything? No grumbling? No arguing? Oh, that’s not easy. I’m mired in a week of worry, and I’m a little grumbly, even with God. I know better! My friend told me many years ago, “You can’t shine when you whine.” I’m sorry, Lord. I want to shine for You.

The other key is at the end of that verse - hold firmly to the word of life. It is hard to move forward when we hold worry with one hand and Jesus with the other.

Pastor Zach Zehnder said in the Forgiving Challenge, “Everyone sins, but sin doesn’t have to end your story, because God doesn’t write stories that end in sin.” God is always working on our story with us. If we grumble and whine, He urges us to repent and turn the page quickly. Hold on to Jesus with both hands. Christians are continually in the process of becoming blameless and pure children of God through all Jesus has done for us. Keep holding tight to the Word of Life. We don’t have to dream of being stars. We are becoming stars in God’s eyes as He writes our story in Christ. Shine on, friends! ~Tracy
